SHARP - Sherborne Area Partners for Learning
The aim of SHARP Learning is to be a Sherborne area resource that provides access to courses from life skills to further learning, as well as offering high quality workforce training for local and rural businesses, helping to develop learning interests and opportunities within community groups and to promote the use of a purpose built conference facility for the provision of learning opportunities and community involvement.
Through community consultation, learning research and developed partnership working, SHARP Learning has identified local learning and development and interest needs and, where appropriate, has represented these needs to the SHARP Learning management.
SHARP Learning is responsible for taking forward the community learning initiative for the area covering Sherborne and the surrounding parishes. SHARP Learning endorses the need to encourage community participation; and seeks to address the different needs and aspirations of potential learners.
Lizzie Kingsbury, SHARP Learning Manager has been strongly influenced (where possible) by the need to include and encourage local communities to use the facilities on the Gryphon School site and hopefully, strengthen our links with our community. Links between the communities of Sherborne and the surrounding areas are important to the Gryphon School as they provide a thread between the actions of SHARP Learning and future community planning and development.
