The School Experience Programme (SEP)

The School Experience Programme (SEP)

The School Experience Programme (SEP) offers classroom experience in a secondary school. The duration is flexible (1 to 10 days); this will be agreed between you and The Gryphon School.

You will be able to apply for the SEP if you hold a first class or 2:1 degree and are considering teaching secondary maths, chemistry, physics, modern foreign languages (MFL), history, English, geography, computer science or biology.

You can also apply as an undergraduate if you are:

  1.      in your final year of studying for a degree in one of these subjects
  2.      interested in teaching one of these subjects
  3.      predicted at least a 2:1 degree

To apply for a SEP place you will need to register with The Department of Education.  Once you have registered, you can apply for the SEP by calling the Teaching Line on 0800 389 2500.

The Teaching Line will contact you once you have registered and it has been confirmed that you meet the requirements. You can contact the Teaching Line by emailing or on freephone 0800 389 2500.  Please note that school experience placements are subject to meeting the eligibility requirements and availability in your local or preferred area.

To discuss the SEP at The Gryphon contact Justine Holland by phone 01935 811063 or email
