The Covid-19 pandemic has severely curtailed our outstanding extra-curricular programme over the last year meaning our young people have missed out on a large part of our enrichment curriculum, which provides so much fun and so many memories for them.
Therefore, we decided to run an Activities Week to give our young people a chance to enjoy a wide range of opportunities and experiences in the last week of term. The History and Geography Teams put on a fun day of Pirate studies and activities; the Science Department delivered an fascinating range of exciting experiments and investigations; our hugely talented Art & Creative Design Team and students created new works of art for the local High Street; the Drama and Music Departments used current West End Performers to deliver inspiring professional workshops and Mr Irwin created a suite of Puzzle Rooms to challenge our thinking.
External organisations came into school to help us to deliver the activities for the week. Highlights included the Year 10 Enterprise Day, teambuilding activities with the Army and everyone’s highlight of the week, It’s a Knockout! Meanwhile, the Sixth Form focused on UCAS applications and a UN debate. The week drew to a fitting finale with our Annual Sports Day, which was as successful as ever, with the whole school participating.
The week has been a tremendous success. The Gryphon School is always at its very best when our whole school community comes together to work as one big team. Our students, as always, have been exceptional, embracing every opportunity offered to them. It has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces and hear so much laughter. Our staff have worked exceptionally hard to put on such an impressive schedule. Thank you to everyone involved who contributed to such a brilliant week; a happy and fun filled few days to end such a challenging academic year.
