Gryphon Students Shine at GCSE

Students in Year 11 at The Gryphon School have once again produced excellent GCSE results.  The percentage of students gaining 5A*-C grades including English and Maths, rose this year to over 72%, with 81% gaining a Level 4 or above in English and 79% achieving a Level 4 or above in Maths. Both subjects have seen an increase in the number of students achieving the highest grades, with the school seeing an overall A*-A rate of 21%.

Headteacher Nicki Edwards, said “These incredible achievements are down the to the hard work and commitment of our students, and tremendous support from staff who have all gone ‘the extra mile’  in these times of momentous change in the GCSE system.  The Gryphon School continues to outperform the national averages, whilst also maintaining a wide breadth of curriculum and enrichment activities, to ensure students are prepared for their next step, whether it be continuing in education or entering the workplace”.

Jackie Brighouse, Head of Year 11, said “I am so delighted and proud at the achievements of our students, who have been an absolute privilege to work with over the last five years. Many will be staying on and joining our Sixth Form, and to those leaving we wish them every success and hope they keep in touch”.

Approximately 65% of students will continue their studies at The Gryphon Sixth Form, and will be joined by other students from across North Dorset and South Somerset.
