Wednesday 26 March 2014 – School Open as normal

We have been informed by the National Union of Teachers that they will be taking industrial action in the form of a strike on Wednesday 26 March 2014. This proposed action is not against The Gryphon School itself but is part of a national trade dispute over the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

There is no requirement on unions to inform us of which members of staff will take action, and it may be that they will not know themselves as there is no obligation on members of unions to obey a strike call. Locally members of the NUT have given advance notice that the disruption will be minimal.

The current plan is for the school to open for all students. Some lessons may not be able to take place as normal. These students will be supervised at these times. Students preparing for examinations and in the Sixth Form should be prepared for revision or private study.

Vocational courses off-site at Rylands Farm (Skills4Life) are not running and students should not be in school on that day.

If there is any change in this situation before Wednesday that would require only partial opening an update will be placed on the School website.
