Year 7 Robotics Day

Year 7 students from The Gryphon have enjoyed a day of hands-on robotics in a workshop run by Stem+ in conjunction with Bournemouth University. Students had fun building their very own Lego Mindstorms robot from scratch, before programming them to move around a track, navigate obstacles and complete various challenges.

Two students particularly impressed the instructors – Max and Max modified their robot to include a laser sensor which could follow the dark lines on the track, removing the need for measuring the distances between obstacles. The instructors said they hadn’t seen this done before and were impressed with the students’ ingenuity!

The workshops are part of the university’s STEM outreach project, encouraging young people to consider future careers in engineering and programming.
