Masterclass Sessions

At the Gryphon Sixth Form we have a long established history of students making informed choices about their next steps, achieving excellent results and going on to enjoy a huge amount of success post-18. With this in mind we would like to offer local students who are currently in Year 10, the opportunity to get a taste of the way in which we achieve this.

After May half term we will be offering 9 evenings where students can take a masterclass of a subject at A level standard, with the aim that the experience will help them make a more informed decision about their next steps post 16. We are offering sessions in subjects that will not have been taught at GCSE, such as Psychology, but also more traditional subjects that will feel very different at A level. This is to help students to make the best choices possible when it comes to deciding which A levels they would benefit from studying.

Students can pick as many masterclasses as they like.

10th June – Psychology “If I study Psychology will I be able to read minds?”

13th June – Geography “Perceptions of Africa”

17th June – Philosophy & Ethics “Do you really know anything?” How far can we establish truth? Can we know that something or someone exists? How far we can know what is right and wrong?

19th June – Maths “What do Numbers look like?” A very brief history of numbers, who invented them, where they came from and what they look like

26th June – History “Tsar Wars – the last of the Romanovs” The lead up to the Bolshevik revolution in Russia
