It is very likely that travel advice will change over the course of the next few months and so Dorset Council has created a new page on its website, which will be updated with any policy changes the Council makes in response to new Government guidance:

The above advice also applies to students using Gryphon School contracted bus routes.
Regrettably students are not entitled to receive free transport to school paid for by the Local Authority when they join the Sixth Form. However, to help support our Sixth Form students to get here, The Gryphon School contracts transport operating from a variety of locations. In addition, limited numbers of surplus seats are available on routes operated by South West Coaches on behalf of Dorset County Council.
It is possible to apply for a surplus seat on a contract bus run by Dorset School Transport, operated by South West Coaches (SWC). Applications should be made direct to SWC on the attached application form. Parents should contact SWC on 01935 475872 or visit www.southwestcoaches.co.uk/school-services for more information.
Whilst SWC endeavours to offer surplus seats there is no guarantee these places will be available.

If your child does not qualify for free school transport, Somerset County Council may offer spare seats on their contracted transport on a paying basis. SCC will be writing to all current Year 11 students who receive free transport to inform them of the application process for a paid seat. Current Year 12’s will also have to apply for a new seat (dates to be confirmed by SCC). Further information can be obtained from SCC on 0300 123 2224.
All students who wish to travel on a Gryphon-operated school bus will need to apply for a seat, even if they have previously used the service. The bus fare for all routes, for the academic year 2020/21 is £950 payable in full or by twelve instalments. Should you choose not to pay in full, an online initial payment of £70, made through WisePay, is required at the time of booking. Places will not be confirmed until the payment has been received. For new students, information about using WisePay, together with login details will be issued to you before the bus application process opens.
It is the school’s policy to give priority to the Sixth Form students for bus applications. The application process for Sixth Form students will open fromMonday 8th June 2020 at 8am and Sixth Formers will have two weeks to apply before the application process opens to all year groups from Monday 22nd June 2020 at 8am, on a first-come-first-served basis. We recommend parents/students apply as soon as the application process opens for the best possible chance of being allocated a bus seat on their preferred route.
From September 2020 there will be 4 routes run and subsidised by The Gryphon School, covering the areas of Yeovil, Sturminster Newton, Castle Cary, Queen Camel, Sparkford, Wincanton, and South Cheriton.
