The Gryphon prepares students for the wider world, whether it’s by working on industry spec iMacs, making music in our recording studio or competing on our playing field.
Whatever a child’s interest, we nurture it. We have our own science labs, sports pitches, drama studios, music rooms, gym, and an outstanding Learning Resources Centre.
The LRC at The Gryphon provides students with access to over 15,000 resources including books, DVDs, magazines, newspapers and an online library catalogue database. The LRC is always open at during break times as well as before and after school.
We have two dedicated librarians on hand to assist students, there are scanners and photocopiers, secure lockers to store and charge devices, and our Careers Centre is located on the middle level.
The Gryphon has fully equipped science labs, and ICT rooms with over 650 computers, including industry spec iMacs. We have WiFi throughout the school and use virtual and remote learning with students. Our technology labs have 3D and laser printers, and we also have a suite of Food Technology kitchens.
The Gryphon prides itself on its successful sports teams and excellent sports facilities. The Café @ Gryphon is a recently refurbished space, providing a wide range of reasonably priced hot and cold food throughout the day. As a ‘Healthy School’, the range includes lots of healthy options, including a well-stocked salad bar and hot meals prepared and cooked on the premises.
For students who wish to take a catering qualification, the Gryphon provides access to its own onsite ‘Bistro’. This allows students to gain valuable practical experience in preparing and cooking food for paying customers.
The Sixth Form common room has it’s own Pod, offering a vibrant café culture with a selection of student-friendly snacks and beverages including barista coffee.
The Gryphon is situated on a lovely green campus that provides plenty of outside space for studying and socialising. Built around two ‘quads’, there are tables and benches which provide excellent spaces for studying and chatting during break times. The Sixth Form also have access to a dedicated common room equipped with study space, a more social area and laptop benches.
Wisepay is the schools’s secure online payment system, an easy way to pay for trips, transport, tickets or add credit to a child’s dinner money account. Students can make purchases from the café using their thumbprint, which is biometrically scanned and linked to their account. This helps parents see what their child is buying, stops cash being brought into school, and reduces frustrating queues.
