About us

The Gryphon School is a thriving Church of England school at the heart of the Sherborne community.

Our vision is for every member of our community to “experience life in all its fullness”, enabling all students to grow, flourish and reach their full potential. We encourage all of our students to aspire to demonstrate our LIFE values: Leadership, Integrity, Fellowship and Exploration throughout their time with us and as they take their next steps.

We are proud to be a school where:

  • All students are supported to live life in its fullness, through the curriculum, pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school

  • High expectations and strong relationships go hand in hand

  • Barriers are removed to allow all to flourish

As a large school, we work hard to create a genuine sense of community, where every student can succeed.

You can read more about our vision and LIFE Values on our Vision and Ethos page.

The Gryphon School Approach

Within our school we want to ensure that all students live life to the full. We aim to do this through focussing on our LIFE values and living these out through 5 key areas:

Attendance and Punctuality

We know that strong attendance underpins success.
We:

  • Set clear expectations for attendance

  • Work closely with families to provide support

  • Act early to remove barriers to learning
