Subjects

The School provides students with an outstanding curriculum.  It is broad and balanced throughout, and exceptional flexibility at Key Stage 4 allows personalisation, not just for groups but also for individuals. The taught curriculum is enhanced very well by extremely popular and diverse extra-curricular provision which plays a significant role in promoting students’ personal development.

At The Gryphon, we believe that learning is at the heart of everything we do. Our dedicated staff foster a positive and respectful atmosphere where students feel supported to achieve high standards and develop essential life skills. We combine academic rigour with personal development to help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire students, preparing them for success at GCSE and A Level, with many progressing to prestigious universities including Oxford, Cambridge, and Russell Group institutions.

Our broad and balanced curriculum offers a wide range of subjects and pathways, including:

Traditional academic subjects alongside vocational courses
Extensive opportunities in sports, arts, drama, and music
Enrichment activities that encourage exploration and leadership development
These opportunities are carefully crafted to cater to individual strengths and interests, helping every student to find their passion and excel.
Our vision of being a ‘10:10’ school, inspired by John 10:10, is lived out in our curriculum through:

  • Leadership: Encouraging students to take responsibility for their learning and contribute positively to the school and wider community.
  • Integrity: Promoting honesty, fairness, and respect in all lessons.
  • Fellowship: Building a strong sense of belonging and support among students and staff.
  • Exploration: Inspiring curiosity and a love of learning through innovative teaching methods and varied experiences.

We understand that success requires commitment and care. Our pastoral support system ensures that every student receives personalised guidance, whether academic, emotional, or social. This nurturing environment helps students to overcome challenges and develop confidence.
