Extra‑Curricular Performing Arts at The Gryphon School

The Gryphon School offers a rich and exciting extra‑curricular performing arts programme, giving students numerous opportunities to develop their creativity, confidence and teamwork beyond the classroom.

Through a wide range of Drama and Music activities, students of all abilities are encouraged to perform, rehearse, create and collaborate in a supportive and aspirational environment. Whether students are new to the performing arts or looking to develop existing talents, there is a place for everyone.


Drama at Gryphon

Extra‑curricular Drama at Gryphon provides students with varied opportunities to explore performance, build confidence and engage creatively with theatre.

Drama Opportunities Include:

Whole‑School Productions

Students can audition for and participate in high‑quality full productions, working as part of a large ensemble across year groups. These productions mirror a professional theatre environment, with rehearsals taking place over an extended period. Roles in the production include:

  • Acting roles of varying sizes and styles
  • Backstage and Technical Opportunities
  • Stage management and assistant stage roles
  • Make-up and hair design
  • Set construction and scenic design
  • Costume, props and backstage support

KS3 Dance show

Choreographed by Sixth Form students and performed by a range of students, our yearly dance show showcases a range of dancing styles.

Drama at Gryphon is inclusive, energetic and creative, helping students develop skills that support both personal growth and future pathways.

Music at Gryphon

The extra‑curricular Music programme at The Gryphon School offers a wide range of opportunities for students to participate, perform and refine their musical skills.

Music Opportunities Include:

  • Choirs and Vocal Groups:  Students can join choirs and vocal ensembles, developing their singing technique, confidence and ensemble skills while performing a varied repertoire.
  • In school concerts and events
  • Performing in productions
  • Community and celebratory performances
  • Roadshows to local primary schools

These events give students valuable experience performing in front of audiences and working as part of a musical team.

Instrumental Ensembles and Bands Opportunities are available for students to:

  • Play in instrumental groups
  • Perform as part of bands or ensembles
  • Explore a range of musical styles and genres

Music at Gryphon encourages participation at all levels, celebrating enjoyment, dedication and musical excellence.
