SAST

The Sherborne Area Schools’ Trust (SAST) was formally established with the Department for Education on 1 June 2017. This new local primary/secondary multi-academy trust includes seven schools serving our local community: Buckland Newton CE Primary, St Andrews CE Primary (Yetminster), Sherborne Primary, Sherborne Abbey CE Primary, St Mary’s CE Primary (Bradford Abbas), The Gryphon School and Thornford CE Primary.

The schools have been working together over the last two years to design and agree the formation of the Trust. The governing body of each school consulted with parents and recommended its formation. Collectively there are 2700 pupils from 0-19 years, a large specialist workforce of 184 teachers, 292 non-teaching staff and a combined budget of £13.2 million expenditure. We are intending to develop our provision, share resources, enable further training of our teachers/staff and take collective responsibility for all of the children’s development and progress. A focus will be on securing and managing the budgets and facilities to sustain high quality provision.
