Outstanding Success at FIRST Tech Robotics South West Qualifiers!
We are thrilled to share the fantastic news that our Year 12 Robotics team (The Algoryphons) have achieved incredible success at the recent FIRST Tech Challenge South West Qualifiers, held at Bournemouth University on Friday 25th April.
Since September, the team has worked tirelessly to design, build, and program their robot for this year’s competition, themed “Into the Deep.” Their months of hard work, commitment, and problem-solving paid off spectacularly at the event. Competing for the first time, they not only secured a place at the National Finals but were also honoured with the prestigious Connect Award.
The Connect Award recognises a team that has excelled in building strong links with their local STEM community. Winning this award is a testament to the students’ proactive approach in seeking out mentorship, promoting engineering, and planning their journey with clear goals and a strong vision. It shows that the team is not just a collection of students, but a group actively inspiring and engaging with the wider community.
We would also like to express our thanks to Eaton, whose generous support — both financially and through mentoring — made a significant difference to the students’ journey. Their guidance and encouragement have been invaluable in helping the team develop technical skills, project management expertise, and real-world insight into the world of engineering and technology.
